News: CoTrain Welcomes Hugh Hudson to Dandara Ltd, Following ISG Administration

Delighted to announce that Huey will be joining Dandara Ltd as an apprentice!

At CoTrain, we are delighted to announce that Hugh Hudson (known as Huey) will be joining Dandara Ltd as an apprentice starting Monday, 7th October.

Huey was previously employed by ISG, which unfortunately went into administration on 19th September 2024. Like many others, Huey found himself in an uncertain position, and we recognise the anxiety and disruption that such a sudden event can cause, particularly for apprentices working hard to build their careers.

Huey’s mother reached out to us regarding a site supervisor role in Spencer's Wood, and after learning more about his situation, we were eager to see how we could help. Through conversations with Huey, we quickly realised he was not only an ideal candidate for the role, but also a motivated individual determined to complete his apprenticeship. With two-thirds of his training already completed, and a strong CV that aligned with the project’s requirements, we knew there was an opportunity to support him in continuing his journey.

Mark Pope from CoTrain reached out to Dandara, who had been struggling to fill the vacancy due to a shortage of local candidates. Liam Buckley from Dandara, himself a former apprentice with CoTrain, understood the value of investing in young talent. Both he and Sarah Hall from CoTrain interviewed Huey, and by 27th September, they were convinced that Huey was the right fit for the team. He was swiftly offered a contract through CoTrain, with the potential for continued work with Dandara on future projects based on his performance.

Huey is now on track to complete his final term and will be ready for his End Point Assessment by April 2025. This collaborative effort between CoTrain, Dandara, and Huey's family has allowed him to remain focused on his goal of becoming a qualified site manager, while opening doors for future learning and career growth.

This success is particularly meaningful for Mark Pope, as it was Liam Buckley, one of his former apprentices, who helped make this opportunity possible for Huey. CoTrain is also working closely with UCEM to transfer Huey's training so he can continue progressing without disruption.
