Summary

We require a Bricklaying apprentice to work with the Bricklaying contractor for one of our client projects, living within 30 mins of Shoreham-by Sea railway station as the site is 5 minutes walk away. Applicants should enjoy working with their hands and working outside in all weathers.

What you’ll do at work

  • During this apprenticeship you will gain a Level 2 Bricklaying qualification
  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required
  • Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date

Full roofing apprenticeship specialising in roof sheet and cladding. This is a full-time position working on large commercial projects. If you enjoy working outside and you are not afraid of heights this could be the steppingstone to a good career in construction. Please only apply if you have good GCSE Grades for maths and English.


What we're looking for

This apprenticeship is for people that like working outdoors and at heights. We are particularly looking for people that have the ambition and potential to be a foreman or gang leader after a few years’ experience once their apprenticeship has completed. So good GCSE grades in Maths and English are necessary along with a willingness to learn. You will work on large commercial projects installing and repairing industrial roofing and cladding onto mainly new build projects but also replacing and repairing roof and cladding materials on existing buildings.


What you’ll do at work

  • Assessing structures, removal of existing materials, installing insulation, installing main roof coverings to include composite, standing seam, secret fix, single-skin, fibre cement, and built-up systems, flashings, fixings, fittings and components, ventilation systems and roof lights
  • Asbestos awareness 
  • How to requisition sheeting and cladding materials

Summary

As an apprentice site manager you will be responsible for looking after the teams on a construction site, as well as liaising with the client. You could be monitoring costs and budget, and ordering materials for the project.

What you’ll do at work

  • Help to ensure that projects are planned and completed in a timely, safely manner
  • Maintaining daily diary to record site events and requirements
  • Learn standards for inspections of all operations to ensure they are carried out in a safe manner
  • Comply with the site-specific environmental action plan requirements
  • Gain a thorough understanding of site boundaries, access points and site office procedures
  • Build relationships with other business unit teams like sales and commercial
  • Shadow site management team on CITB inspection visits
  • Manage and co-ordinate the safe and tidy storage of material delivered to the site
  • Shadow and report to the business unit production director on specific development targets and objectives
