Blog: Danusha Level 4 Site Supervisor Apprentice

12 March 2023

For Danusha, her apprenticeship became the best pathway back to construction

Danusha joined the Wates Interior Fit Out division in November 2022 and her first project was to help manage the interior fit out of a new school (Harlington School) under construction by Wates.

Danusha always had a passion for construction. She graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering but took a career break to raise a family. Now, many years later, she is excited to discover that a construction site is completely different from what she had imagined: “Everyone’s very helpful, they work as a team and I feel respected”.

During her time with the charity Women Into Construction, Danusha was inspired by stories from other colleagues which encouraged her return to construction. Following her placement with the charity, she became confident that the industry construction was her true home.

Apprenticeship became the best pathway back to the industry. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn in a practical way and practice #SkillsFoRLife. Danusha wants to be Site Manager or Project Manager. However, her main interest is mechanical engineering so ideally, she would like to manage those types of contracts.
